Grammy nominated Freestyle Fellowship will be performing at Trill’s 4 Year Anniversary on Saturday, April 29th!
Every year Trill Hip Hop Shop throws a huge anniversary party. This year Trill will be celebrating 4 years strong with a 2 day party on April 29th & April 30th. As usual, the show will consist of a Funky Flea Swap Meet, the Coolin’ Out DJ Squad, food trucks/vendors, and performances by some of the biggest names in the underground community. The lineup of performers this year will surely not disappoint.
One of the most anticipated acts this year is Freestyle Fellowship (Aceyalone, Myka Nyne, Self Jupiter, & DJ Kiilu), who will be performing on day 1 of this 2 day event. The Los Angeles based hip hop group is a part of the renowned Project Blowed collective and has been holding down the West Coast underground scene for over 30 years. Their first album, To Whom It May Concern…, was released in 1991 and was recently nominated for a Grammy, “Best Historical Album” . This was a first for any rap album in Grammy history. Although they didn’t win, it was nice to see them recognized within the mainstream industry for their hard work and creativity.
All in all Freestyle Fellowship put out a total of 5 studio albums. Although their last album, The Promise, was released in 2011, the group has been steadily performing and have recently re-released their Grammy nominated debut album.
Freestyle Fellowship is just the tip of the iceberg of Trill’s 4 Year Anniversary party. Other performers of this 2 day event include El Da Sensei of the Artifacts, Mystik Journeymen, Blu & Exile, Cannibal Ox, & MC Supernatural just to name a few. Tickets are still available, but they are selling fast. If you are looking to secure access to this event head over to the Eventbrite page here, and cop them while you can.
