After quite a hiatus the Uptown family is getting back together to celebrate 5 years of dope DJs, artists, and shenanigans at Rip’s Ales and Cocktails here in midtown Phoenix. This also coincides with Uptown’s co-founder and host Very G’s birthday. Uptown Wednesdays has always been a favorite to many around the Phoenix Hip Hop/DJ community. It is one of the few nights that allows for true creativity for the tablists/acts involved. For me personally, it is one of the only nights left here in the valley that remind me of the part of the scene that attracted me to DJing some 20+ years ago. So often these days DJs need to fit within the certain guidelines provided by the club/venue. Which is fine, mind you… But it is refreshing to jump on the decks and play whatever you want, how you want. It’s also nice to be able to set up 2×4, something that you don’t see too much of these days. So make sure you roll through Rips Wednesday, November 7th and celebrate 5 years of Uptown and Very G’s birthday with Uptown resident DJs Organic, Fact135, Tricky T, Reflekshin, Akshen, and M2 set up with 4 turntables. The night’s adventure will be hosted by (the birthday boy himself), Very G. As always this is a FREE event and it’s 21 and up. We hope to see you there!
