The winner will be chosen by crowd reaction and Judges. Crowd reaction will equal 1 vote, and 2 judges each will have 1 vote. Whoever gets ⅔ or better will advance to the next round. In the event that the crowd reaction has no clear winner, we will have a sudden death round, 30 seconds, battle rapper’s choice (acapella or freestyle over a beat).
Battle pairings will be chosen at random, and announced the day before the event. This way the emcees can prepare a little bit beforehand and help promote their matches.
Each Battle Starts with 8 Emcees
Round 1: 2 heats, winner from each heat moves on to the semi-final round (same night).
- Heat 1: Acapella: 45 Seconds
- Heat 2: Freestyle Over Beats: 45 Seconds
- Sudden Death: If applicable
Semi-Final Round: 2 heats, winner from each heat will move to the final round (same night).
- Heat 1: Acapella: 45 Seconds
- Heat 2: Freestyle Over Beats: 45 Seconds
- Sudden Death: If applicable
Final Round: 2 heats, winner from each heat will move to the finals (final main event).

We switched up the format this year because last year, we got a lot of feedback from emcees who preferred acapella battles instead of freestyle over beats.
